Privacy Policy
Last updated 10 September 2026
This policy explains what personal information Vishudhi योग (“Vishudhi Yog”, “we”, “I”) collects when you use vishudhiyog.com, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
Vishudhi Yog is a yoga teaching practice run by Harini, operating from Gujarat, India, and teaching students online across several countries. Questions about anything below go to vishuddhiyogbyharini@gmail.com.
1. What we collect
Information you give us directly
When you submit the enquiry form on our contact section, we collect:
- Your name — so we can reply to you properly.
- Your email address — required, because it is how we respond.
- Your phone number — optional. Provide it only if you would rather be reached on WhatsApp or by call.
- Your message — whatever you choose to write to us.
If you contact us instead by WhatsApp, phone or email, we receive whatever information you choose to share in that conversation, including your phone number as shown by the messaging service.
Please do not send us detailed medical information through the website form. If you have a health condition, pregnancy, injury or diagnosis relevant to your practice, share it directly with Harini over WhatsApp, email or in conversation — not through a web form that routes through third-party services.
Information collected automatically
If — and only if — you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics 4 records standard usage data: pages viewed, approximate location (city or region level, derived from a truncated IP address), device and browser type, referring website, and how long you stayed. This is used to understand which pages are useful, not to identify you.
If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no analytics data is sent.
Separately, our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps short-lived server logs containing IP addresses for security and abuse prevention. These are technically necessary to serve the site and are not used for tracking.
2. Cookies
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. We use as few as possible.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| vy_consent | Vishudhi Yog | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so we stop asking. Strictly necessary — it exists only to honour your choice. | 6 months |
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes one visitor from another so visit counts are not wildly inflated. Only set if you accept. | 13 months |
| _ga_<ID> | Google Analytics | Maintains the current session state. Only set if you accept. | 13 months |
Analytics cookies are off by default. Nothing from Google loads until you press Accept. You can change your mind at any time using the link, which is also in the footer of every page.
3. Why we are allowed to use your information
Under the GDPR, which applies to students in the UK and EU, our lawful bases are:
- Consent — for analytics cookies. You give it by pressing Accept and can withdraw it at any time.
- Legitimate interest — for responding to an enquiry you sent us. You wrote to us; replying is the obvious expectation.
- Legal obligation — for any records we are required to keep, such as payment records once you become a paying student.
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, we process your data on the basis of the consent you give when submitting the form, for the stated purpose of responding to your enquiry.
4. Who else sees your information
We do not sell your data. We have never sold your data and have no plans to. It is shared only with the services that make the site work:
- Google (Workspace & Apps Script) — enquiry form submissions are written to a private Google Sheet that only Harini can open. Google acts as our processor.
- Google Analytics — usage data, only with your consent. Google may process this outside India and the EU under its standard contractual clauses. IP anonymisation is enabled.
- Vercel — hosts the site and processes server logs.
- Meta (WhatsApp) — if you choose to message us there, that conversation is governed by WhatsApp's own privacy policy, not this one.
5. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become students: deleted from the enquiry sheet within 24 months.
- Active student records: kept while you are practising with us and for 24 months after your last class, so we can pick up where you left off if you return.
- Analytics data: retained by Google for 14 months, then automatically deleted.
- Financial records: kept as long as Indian tax law requires.
6. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what information we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete your information entirely.
- Stop using it for a particular purpose.
- Send you a copy in a portable format.
- Withdraw your analytics consent — no explanation needed.
Email vishuddhiyogbyharini@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge. If you are in the EU or UK and are unhappy with our response, you may complain to your national data protection authority. In India, you may approach the Data Protection Board.
7. Children
This site is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If a minor wishes to practise with us, a parent or guardian should make the enquiry.
8. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Enquiry data sits in a Google account protected by two-factor authentication. That said, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — which is the honest reason we ask you not to send medical details through the form.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top and, where the change affects how we use data you have already given us, tell you directly. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
